Our clinical laboratory and antibody testing platform are recognised by the Hong Kong Government for effective detection of neutralising antibodies against COVID-19. Neutralising antibodies are an important indicator used to evaluate the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines. Neutralising antibodies intercept the spike protein which causes COVID-19 from binding to human cells and make them lose their infectious activity. This principle is also the basis of the design of COVID-19 vaccine.

In general, unspecific antibody tests can only detect the total level of different antibodies present. Among these antibodies, binding antibodies cannot inhibit the virus from infecting human cells, and its existence can only indicate that the individual may have previously been infected by the COVID-19. Our neutralising antibody test is designed to determine the level of neutralising antibodies that can inhibit viral infection and exert a protective effect. The level of neutralising antibodies for this test is determined according to the first international standard of the World Health Organization.

The testing platform is provided by a leading diagnostic company offering quantitative COVID-19 antibody test. The platform is Conformitè Europëenne (CE) marked, which signifies that the product has been assessed to meet high safety, health, and environmental protection requirements of the European Economic Area (EEA). It has also received the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) from the United States Food and Drug Administration.
