Hormone Disorder (Endocrinology)
Endocrinology is the medical specialty concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases related to hormone production and metabolism. Hormone disorders treated by endocrinologists include diseases in the pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid or adrenal glands as well as the pancreas. Metabolic disorders managed by the endocrinologists include diabetes, obesity and lipid disorders (include high cholesterol and high triglyceride). Endocrinologists also manage osteoporosis (a metabolic disorder of the bones), reproductive disorders (e.g. low testosterone in men) and provide screening service for complications arising from diabetes and obesity, such as diabetes-related sensory perception disturbances or obesity-related respiratory disorders.
