Upper Gastrointestinal Disease Centre

The Upper Gastrointestinal Disease Centre provides one-stop comprehensive diagnosis and treatment services for patients suffering from both benign and malignant diseases of the oesophagus, stomach, and small bowel from diagnosis to treatment and rehabilitation.

The team will have a nurse coordinator to work as a clinical case manager (CCM) to schedule the bookings and appointments of various radiology and pathology investigations, and surgical oncology treatments and rehabilitation planned for each patient.

• Swallowing problem
• Heartburn etc

Benign:

• Endoscopic service
• Gastroesophageal reflux disease, motility disorders of the oesophagus, functional upper gastrointestinal diseases

Malignant:

• Multidisciplinary management of all upper gastrointestinal cancers with a major focus on gastric cancer and oesophageal cancer
  ○ Endoscopic and minimally invasive surgery
  ○ Personalised treatment with systemic therapy and peritoneal-directed therapy
  ○ Biomarker evaluation for target therapy and immunotherapy 
  ○ Radiotherapy with advanced technology e.g. Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT),
      Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT)
