Critical Care / Intensive Care Medicine
Critical Care / Intensive Care Medicine is concerned with the management of life-threatening illnesses and injuries that require intensive monitoring and organ support. The care is provided with specialised equipment and medications at the intensive care unit (ICU) of a hospital. Intensive care doctors work closely with ICU nurses, physiotherapists, pharmacists and doctors in other specialties to support critically ill patients until they are stable enough to be managed in a normal ward.
