Training Course

Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong provides basic knowledge and training with practicum in phlebotomy, Intravenous Cannulation and Electrocardiogram Operation as well as basic education on laboratory tests in this course. The course is taught by experienced nurses, medical technologists.  In addition, practicum will be directed by experienced nurse and phlebotomists. Gleneagles Hong Kong Hospital (Clinical Laboratory) has become a TQUK (Training Qualification UK) Endorsed Centre and the course is endorsed by TQUK as a Level 5 course.

Course content:	Course include: - Clinical Laboratory knowledge - Phlebotomy :      - Basic anatomy      - Infection control measures      - Occupational safety and health      - Phlebotomy technique and equipment      - Paediatric blood taking -  Intravenous Cannulation Techniques -  Electrocardiogram Operation -  Practicum: Training arms and real person practice -  Customer Service and Communication Skills
Language:	Cantonese supplemented with English medical terms
Assessment:	Written and practical examination
Award:	80% attendance + passing of examination  - Graduates will be awarded a Certificate of Completion by Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong  - After 150 hours of additional practicum, graduates will be awarded a certificate of Diploma in Clinical Laboratory Knowledge, Phlebotomy, Intravenous Cannulation and Electrocardiogram Operation (Level 5) by TQUK & Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong
Requirement:	Secondary school level or above, able to communicate in fluent Cantonese with basic competency in English. Preferably have Biology subject or related studies on venepuncture, or healthcare assistance training or working in healthcare institutes. All applicants need to review their admission eligibility by the course assessor. (Phone interview may be performed if necessary) Deadline: 16 September 2024
Course fee:	HK$19,000 (including training materials and TQUK Certificate fee)

***Graduates of this course may have the opportunity to be employed as Phlebotomist by Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong.
