Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong launches further discount on total knee replacement packages for public hospital patients and special offer on robotic-arm assisted joint replacement
(22 February 2022 – Hong Kong) Since the early stages of the pandemic, Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong (Gleneagles) has offered special offers on all-inclusive fixed-price medical packages to help patients who were affected by the reduction of non-urgent services in public hospitals to receive timely medical care. In view of the notable demand for joint replacement surgeries, Gleneagles relaunches the exclusive offer on total knee replacement medical packages, with a further discount, in a bid to help orthopaedic patients to receive prompt care and help alleviate the pressure on public hospitals amid this new wave of the pandemic. Simultaneously, Gleneagles launches a special offer on robotic-arm assisted total knee replacement medical package, providing an additional surgical option for patients.
Effective from 1 March 2022, patients with appointments scheduled for orthopaedic specialist outpatient service in public hospitals are eligible to use the designated total knee replacement (unilateral) package at a special price, with a saving of over HK$43,500. This offer represents a further discount on package fee from the offers launched last year. The package fee covers all costs relevant to the procedure within the stipulated length of stay including pre-operative assessment such as laboratory testing, diagnostic imaging, meeting with anaesthetist, etc; operation charges; room charges and meal charges during the stay; and costs arising from complications and intensive care. The offer is valid until 31 December 2022.
Dr Kenneth Tsang, Chief Executive Officer of Gleneagles, said, “With the city’s healthcare system facing unprecedented challenges, we feel obliged to continue to support Hong Kong’s anti-pandemic work via all feasible means.” “During the period from the initial launch of our special offers on medical packages to end of last year, 220 public hospital patients with joint problems have benefited from this scheme, among which 77% have undergone total knee replacement. Our Joint Replacement Centre has been adopting the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery approach which provides excellent clinical outcomes enabling patients to walk as soon as one hour after surgery. By launching this scheme, we also hope to help reduce burden on our public healthcare system so that it can focus its resources on treating COVID-19-positive patients”, Dr Tsang added.
Meanwhile, from 1 March to 30 June 2022, a special discount of HK$11,000 for robotic-arm assisted total knee replacement all-inclusive fixed-price medical package will be on offer. Dr Tsang said, “We are committed to introducing innovative and advanced medical equipment and technologies. The robotic arm technology introduced last year for joint replacement enhances surgical precision and safety, further facilitating patient recovery while providing patients with an additional high-quality surgical option.”
Gleneagles’ all-inclusive fixed-price medical packages are designed to give patients high-quality services with price certainty. The package fee covers doctor and anaesthetist’s fees, diagnostic procedures, treatment, operating theatre, equipment, implants, medication, consumable, room and meals, nursing procedures, as well as fees arising from complications and intensive care, if any. Pre-admission fee advisory service will be provided to patients so that they will have a clear understanding of the cost and services covered.
