Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong launches discounted all-inclusive packages and special maternity offers to help public hospital patients amid coronavirus disease outbreak
(20 February 2020 – Hong Kong) Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong (Gleneagles) has launched a programme which offers 70 surgical procedures at special prices for public hospital patients with the aim of helping patients who are affected by the reduction in certain surgeries at public hospitals and alleviating the burden on public hospitals amid the coronavirus disease outbreak.
Offered through all-inclusive medical packages, the procedures cover a spectrum of specialties including orthopaedics, urology, gynaecology and general surgery. From today until 31 May 2020, patients with appointments scheduled for specialist outpatient services at public hospitals are eligible to join medical packages at a reduction of 20% from the original package fees. Surgical packages offered at special prices include kidney stone treatment, haemorrhoidectomy and knee ligament reconstruction.
Special offers on elective and emergency caesarean section maternity packages are also made for prospective mothers with antenatal appointments at public hospitals or clinics. Gleneagles offers a fee cap of $5,000 for additional services incurred, if any, that are excluded from the packages during hospital stay to provide extra peace of mind and fee certainty to patients.
Mr Dirk Schraven, Chief Executive Officer of Gleneagles, said “Private hospitals play a complementary role in Hong Kong’s health system, and as everyone is working hard to combat this epidemic, we feel obliged to step up to support public hospitals in areas that we are capable of. During this challenging time, we hope to help provide timely and appropriate care to those patients affected by the reduction in non-urgent and semi-urgent surgeries at public hospitals.” “We are liaising with more doctors to join this collaborative initiative, and currently close to 20 doctors, including university professors, from different specialties have agreed to play a part in helping more patients,” he added.
Patients are advised to make an initial consultation with the hospital’s respective specialist outpatient clinics. Further details on the above offers are available at www.gleneagles.hk.
Gleneagles’ all-inclusive fixed price medical packages are designed to give patients high-quality services with price certainty. The package fee covers doctor and anaesthetist’s fees, diagnostic procedures, treatment, operating theatre, equipment, implants, medication, consumable, room and meals, nursing procedures, as well as fees arising from complications and intensive care, if any. Fee advisory service will be provided to patients before admission so that they will have a clear understanding of the cost and services covered.
