(10 November 2022 – Hong Kong) Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong (Gleneagles) and healthtech start-up PanopticAI Limited (PanopticAI) signed a memorandum of understanding today for their collaboration on promoting the development of innovative digital healthcare solutions. The partnership involves Gleneagles integrating a contactless camera-based health and wellness monitoring solution, developed by PanopticAI, into the hospital’s mobile application My Gleneagles SmartHealth. Through introducing new digital healthcare solutions, Gleneagles and PanopticAI strive to further improve the accessibility of quality healthcare to benefit more members of the public. The collaboration highlights the vision shared between Gleneagles and PanopticAI to improve people’s health through leveraging innovation and technological advancement.

The COVID-19 epidemic has accelerated the development of medical innovation and technology in Hong Kong. In 2020, Gleneagles launched the mobile application My Gleneagles SmartHealth to provide patients with one-stop outpatient medical services, allowing patients to manage their health anytime, anywhere. In an effort to further enhance patient experience, Gleneagles has recently launched the new contactless camera-based health and wellness monitoring function of vital signs measurement on its mobile app, providing users with their reference health data. Monitoring of the vital signs readings is expected to help raise users’ awareness of their health conditions while empowering them to play an active role in the management of their health. Patients will soon be able to receive virtual consultation via the patient app as well, offered as an additional platform for virtual consultation service which has been launched since the early stage of the pandemic and extended to chronic disease management dietetics services.

The smart, contactless health monitoring function enables users to measure their heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, heart rate variability, blood pressure and other vital signs data by simply scanning their faces with the camera of a smartphone. By capturing subtle color changes on the human face due to blood flow under the skin, the person’s health data can be measured.

Dr Kenneth Tsang, Chief Executive Officer of Gleneagles, said, “Gleneagles has been striving to continuously improve service quality and efficiency through leveraging healthcare digital technology. With this innovative AI-based health monitoring solution, self-management and monitoring of health is made easier and more accessible which in turn helps patients seek appropriate medical attention in a more timely manner. We look forward to continuing to collaborate with PanopticAI in arena of digital health to bring to people more convenient and personalised healthcare.”

Mr Kyle Wong, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of PanopticAI, said, “At PanopticAI, our mission is to make remote healthcare diagnostically accurate and accessible with Vitals, our AI-based, hardware-agnostic health monitoring software suite. We are honored to partner with Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong to deliver the next generation of digital health solutions for the people of Hong Kong and beyond.”

The signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding was held at the second Asia Summit on Global Health, co-organised by the Government of the HKSAR and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. Gleneagles is the Future Private Health Partner of the summit.
