Nurse Educator (Operating Theatre)

Job Responsibilities
- Support the smooth and efficient running of perioperative services within the Operating Theatre
- Lead and supervise the OT nursing team to ensure patients receive high-quality, safe, and timely surgical care
- Provide clinical supervision and direct patient care in the perioperative setting, supporting nurses in developing competence in surgical nursing practices
- Develop, implement, and evaluate perioperative-focused education activities including clinical teaching, coaching, and assessment to enhance surgical nursing skills, knowledge, and professional values for all levels of nursing staff (SRN, RN, EN & HCA)
- Assist in the development and implementation of OT-specific nursing standards, surgical care protocols, and compliance monitoring
- Conduct orientation, induction, and role transition support for new OT nurses and learners to ensure service quality and patient safety
- Conduct Assessor Courses and evaluate trained assessors for competency in perioperative nursing
- Collaborate with nurse leaders to organize Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) programs and training activities tailored to the needs of OT nursing staff
- Work with Nurse Managers, Clinical Heads, and other Nurse Educators on staff development, perioperative service improvement, and continuous education initiatives
- Partner with the Nursing Training Department to formulate annual training plans and staff development strategies for new surgical services and technologies
- Design and coordinate mentorship training with universities to support student nurse placements in the OT environment
- Lead and promote patient safety and risk management practices specific to the perioperative setting among nursing staff
- Foster professional and collaborative relationships with clinical leadership, surgical teams, management, and the public
- Serve as a role model by demonstrating exemplary leadership and professional behavior
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date training records within the Nursing Department
- Collaborate with the Human Resources Department on staff training and development matters
- Perform any other relevant duties as delegated or assigned by supervisor(s)
Requirements
- Holder of a valid Registered Nurse Practicing Certificate (Part 1) issued by the Nursing Council of Hong Kong
- Degree holder in Nursing, preferably with post-graduate qualifications in Perioperative Nursing, Education, or Training
- Master’s degree in Nursing or a related Healthcare/ Health Services discipline
- Preferably with clinical teaching experience in the Operating Theatre or perioperative setting
- Minimum of 10 years of clinical experience in perioperative nursing within a hospital setting
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in school teaching or clinical teaching
- Preferably with experience in managing nursing student placement programs in the Operating Theatre
- Fluent in both English and Cantonese, with strong speaking and writing skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Possess a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate
