Legal Counsel

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead overall legal functions, advise on regulatory and legal issues generally
  • Delivery of legal services to all business units under Gleneagles brand
  • Provide comprehensive legal support for the areas including but not restricted to:
    • New business expansion
    • Joint ventures
    • Financing
    • Review of vendor, service provider and B2B contracts
    • General corporate/commercial transactions
    • Dispute resolution management
    • Intellectual property management
  • Work closely with the group company and all related internal and external parties to provide legal support for all transactions and matters to achieve the commercial objectives of the business in a legally compliant manner, taking into account the risks involved and with appropriate risk mitigation
  • Liaison between internal stakeholders and external counsels in relation to external legal advice and its interpretation
  • Monitoring and reporting of legal costs and optimization of legal resources
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant legal and regulatory developments and changes
  • Managing and updating policies and procedures
  • Handling other assignments or ad hoc projects

Requirements

  • Degree in Law or related discipline or qualifications
  • A minimum of 10 years of Post-Qualified Experience (“PQE”) as a qualified lawyer in at least one major legal jurisdiction
  • Rich experience in corporate M&A gained in in-house legal department or international law firms, ideally previous experience also includes managing the medico-legal and litigation matters however not a must
  • Experience in the healthcare sector would be advantage
  • Proper mindset and competency of being able to manage litigation matters together with the external legal counsels
  • Capacity of being able to provide proper advisory service to management on day to day basis with regard to HK legal matters
  • A commercial mindset, with a strong capability of interacting with senior stakeholders
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua)
  • Able to use Microsoft Office effectively in carrying out day-to-day duties
